School Camp Portraits

School trip, the journey where children from the upper years of primary school go on a trip by bike for the first time. Sleeping away from home for the first time. Packing their bag for the first time. Cycling further than ever before for the first time. Some children only learn to cycle independently a few weeks before the school trip begins.

School trips are a way for children to get to know each other. And for teachers to observe the children in the classroom without parents standing next to them. This can be seen in what kind of bag they arrive with, what kind of bike they ride, and how and if they packed their own bag.

During the cycling trip, they will encounter all sorts of things. Wind, flat tyres. Children who can only just cycle and are not yet strong enough, and rain.

This year it rained so hard that the rain came down non-stop for the entire trip. I took photos of them, soaking wet.
