Hi, my name is Guillaume Groen . I'm a nerd. Ever since I was little, I've been interested in technology and I always want to know how and why something works the way it does. So, I'm naturally curious. As a child, I only asked questions. I was at the front of the group on excursions, and I still don't take anything for granted without satisfying my curiosity.
I use this in my work too. I have a genuine interest in people. I believe their stories are always interesting. So many wonderful stories are lost over time. Old craftsmanship is disappearing due to the rise of mechanisation, automation, and robotisation. Everything can be made easier, faster, and more efficient, but that comes at the expense of old craftsmanship.
I try to capture that with my photography. I'm a real people photographer. With my genuine interest in the stories of the people I photograph, we build a connection. People love to talk about their passion. They like to tell their story, they feel heard and are at ease.
I also like to look behind closed doors. I visualise what remains hidden from others. 'How do they make that product?' or 'Is that still made in the Netherlands?' are questions that always run through my mind and that I therefore like to answer. I enjoy going behind the doors of factories and production sites and find the manufacturing industry incredibly interesting.
For my photo series MADE IN NL I photograph Dutch industry. Factories that still produce in the Netherlands. Real Dutch craftsmanship captured.
I help you tell your story. To open the doors that normally remain closed to your customers and show what you're good at. It's not for nothing that the programme 'How it's made' is still widely watched on television.
Companies show too little of their employees. The human touch needs to return to corporate photography. I see so many company websites that either use stock photos or no photos with people. While they are your greatest asset. They have the passion for your product. Show your production process to your customers and let your employees tell your entrepreneurial story.
